Tourist Police

Tourist Police, a special unit of Nepal Police, works to ensure that your trip is pleasant, safe and hasslefree.

The Tourism Police is a special unit of the Nepal Police, working under the Department of Tourism. The main office is located at the Tourist Service Center, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. There are also complaint counters at the Airport and in Basantapur Durbar Square. The unit works exclusively to guarantee a pleasant stay for tourists and to mitigate and resolve any security problems that may prevent a tourist from enjoying a pleasant trip.

The main function and responsibility of the tourist police are to look after the well-being of tourists and ensure a memorable stay in Nepal. They also advise and assist tourists in safety and security while traveling, hiking, rafting, and staying in hotels anywhere in Nepal.

Nepal Tourism Board is a national tourism organization of Nepal established in 1998 by an Act of Parliament in the form of partnership between the Government of Nepal and private sector tourism industry to develop and market Nepal as an attractive tourist destination. The Board provides platform for vision-drawn leadership for Nepal’s tourism sector by integrating Government commitment with the dynamism of private sector.
